Strawberry Festival

Strawberry Festival

Sun, Fun and Strawberries!

Saturday, May 11, 2019, noon to 5:00 p.m.
Richmond Beach Community Park, 2201 NW 197th Street

The Richmond Beach Community Association hosted its 20th annual Strawberry Festival at the Richmond Beach Community Park (2201 NW 197th Street) next to the library, on Saturday, May 11, from noon to 5:00 p.m. This event was co-sponsored by the City of Shoreline.

The festival featured music by local musicians, food from local restaurants, activities for kids, a walking tour of historic Richmond Beach and more.

Children's Parade

The fairy tale themed Children’s Parade kicked off the festivities with guest appearances from Little Red Riding Hood and the Woodsman. A drum line from the Shorewood Marching Band led the parade and provided demonstrations for the kids afterwards.

Music

Live entertainment at the 2019 Richmond Beach Strawberry Festival included three top area bands plus delightful local youth demonstrations from Hans World Martial Arts and the Pink Zebra Cheer Squad. The bands rocked the stage and really got the crowd dancing. Thank you to them:

Food

A variety of scrumptious delights was offered by local restaurants and new this year two food trucks.

  • Issaya Thai Cuisine
  • Cabin Tavern
  • Anthony's Finn Food Truck
  • Yummy 8 Food Truck

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Strawberry Festival without traditional Strawberry Shortcake served up by RBCA (freshly baked shortcake from Edmonds Bakery and fresh, juicy strawberries smothered in creamy whip cream–yum!).

Photography Contest

Congratulations to Shorewood senior, Katie Stellwagen whose cat photo was the winner of the Shorewood Photography Competition. She was awarded a $200 scholarship. Funds for the prize were donated by Richmond Beach resident Bob Pfeiffer. To view additional photos from this event, visit RBCA’s website at www. richmondbeachwa.org/events/strawberry.

Thank You Volunteers It takes a small army of adult and youth volunteers to create this community event. The RBCA thanks everyone who got up early to help set up, stood out in the sun to help out and who of course stayed until sunset to clean up. Volunteers roll in from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and we really couldn’t do it without you. THANK YOU!

Emergency Vehicle Displays

A special thank you to the Shoreline Fire Department, the Shoreline Police Department and the Shoreline Emergency Management Communications Service for the displays of emergency vehicles and for providing safety information and demonstrations.
